CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE CAN LEAD TO ANEMIA LEAVING YOU FEELING TIRED AND WEAK

There are some things that ou should know if you've been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. In certain people, chronic kidney disease can lead to a serious condition called anemia. If anemia due to chronic kidney disease is left untreated, you are at risk for serious health consequences, including a higher risk of heart complications or needing a blood transfusion. If you are unsure if you have anemia, or it's been a while since you've checked, a doctor can diagnose it through a simple blood test.

ANEMIA SYMPTOMS ARE EASILY MISSED 

Symptoms of anemia are very common to many other conditions and can therefore be easily missed. Common anemia symptoms include:

If you have chronic kedney disease and have at least one of the above symptoms, you may have a condition called anemia.

 

ANEMIA DUE TO CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE CAN BE TREATED

Anemia due to chronic kidney disease is primarily treated with an injection of a medication that helps your body produce red blood cells. Because your body needs iron to make red blood cells, your doctor may also give you iron, either in pill form or as an IV.

 Is there a chance I will receive a placebo?

 You will not receive a placebo during this study.

How long is the research study?

The study may last for up to 4 years and may involve up to 34 visits to the study center. If you pre-qualify and are referred to the research office, the study staff can provide you with more information.

 Can I withdraw from the study after I have started?

Your participation in the study is entirely voluntary and you may withdraw at any time. If you decide to withdraw early from the study, you will be asked to notify the research staff before doing so; you be asked to return to the study office at least once to complete a final visit and return any unused study medications.
