This Study is for a Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV Vaccine) for adults 60 and over. The study involves 3 visits to the Site in Milford, CT, 2 check-in phone calls and a symptom diary to be completed for 7 days after the vaccination. - RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms.
- Infants and adults who are older or have certain risk factors are more likely to develop severe RSV and need hospitalization.
- CDC recommends immunizations to protect infants, some young children, and adults who are older or have certain risk factors that increase the risk for severe RSV.
- The CDC estimates that more than 175,000 adults are hospitalized for RSV infection each year, particularly older adults, and adults with chronic heart or lung disease or weakened immune systems
